What is the project about?

Shandía is a Quechua community located in the Talag parish at the gates of the Amazon surrounded by the rivers Jatun Yacu and Talag, beautifully established in the center of the hills Huasila and Rimak Urku.

The Lodge was built by hand by the inhabitants of this locality with materials such as bamboo and straw, typical of the locality, with support from the Maquita Foundation and with funding from international cooperation.

The training of the people of the community in the areas of customer service, restaurant and hotel management, as well as in gastronomy guarantees a quality service and also contributes to the sense of empowerment of this initiative. The income generated is used for the good of the community and a committee decides on its use.

How is VSocial involved in the project?

VSocial is generating a strategy to strengthen this project so that it can access the community-based tourism certification and thus reach new markets.

What impact does the commitment have?

The project has a direct focus on 60 families in the region.

*All data was determined with the best knowledge and conscience on the basis of existing data sets, direct information from the partners and empirical values.
