What is the project about?
The school "San Juan Apóstol" is located in the Pueblos Joven "Villa Cerrillos", in the district of Cerro Colorado. The village consists of families in extreme poverty and most homes lack basic services. Until early 2002, Villa Cerrillos did not have an educational center for local children. Each year the school has been growing both in students and infrastructure. The construction of new classrooms and surroundings has been possible thanks to the generous contribution of donors and private companies, the work of Solidarity in March and the commitment of parents.
The educational center has the support of foreign young people who come through different institutions to do volunteer work for a few months, collaborating with the dictation of different classes (English, music, art, sports).
In addition to providing the educational service, the school gives students a food supplement to complement the training received and allow them better study conditions. The College "San Juan Apóstol" aims to provide a comprehensive quality education, providing a decent education that allows them to display their skills to be agents of change in society, despite the adverse conditions in which children and young people live .
How is VSocial involved in the project?
The VSocial Foundation is responsible for the feeding of the more than 600 children of the school, additional support for infrastructure and academic implements.
