Project description

Born out of the 2016 peace process in Colombia, Casa de la Paz in Bogotá is staffed by former FARC guerrillas, giving ex-combatants economic opportunities that, given their past, wouldn’t otherwise be available to them. For the mostly female leaders, Casa de la Paz offers the opportunity not only to tell their story, remember their history and work towards reconciliation, but also to fight for women’s rights and to establish more and more women leaders in positions defending human rights. The center is also home to La Trocha, a craft brewery, where after viewing the Museum of Armed Conflict, visitors can raise a toast to peace and reconciliation.
Travelers visiting Casa de la Paz can enjoy a tour of the center where they will have the opportunity through first-hand testimonies and stories to find out more about Colombia’s decades long armed conflict, as well as a beer tasting at La Trocha and a network of other services provided by ex-guerillas.
Involvement of V Social
Since working with Casa de la Paz in August 2022, the VSocial Foundation has helped this community-based tourism project strengthen its tourist experience as well as providing two training workshops and connecting the community project with international tour operators to ensure a supply of visitors.

Your impact
Bogota
Country: Colombia
Casa de la Paz benefits 11 families directly, and another 50 families indirectly that are part of the supply chain to Casa de la Paz. However, the remembrance and reconciliation processes that the project is conducting have a much larger impact, benefiting indirectly the whole of Colombia. Casa de la Paz works with another ten peace organizations, thus greatly contributing to the reconciliation processes taking place across the whole country.
