ÉXITO VERDE – Colombia

What is the project about?

Éxito Verde is an organization that works in the south of Bogota and focuses its attention on environmental issues and community tourism. It is located in the town of Ciudad Bolivar, in a very popular neighbourhood where they carry out their recycling and tourism activities from a school that receives children and adolescents. There they work together to contribute to the improvement of the life of the inhabitants of the area.

How is VSocial involved in the project?

VSocial Foundation joins forces with the project to strengthen the tourist product and link it to a proposal to defend the human rights of the inhabitants of the area. It also recovers the historical memory of the place in order to give it an important place to the social processes that have taken place in the past and through which they formed the place where they live: their neighbourhood.

What impact does the commitment have?

The direct impact of VSocial’s support is 20 people who are beneficiaries of the community tourism project, however, the indirect beneficiaries are many more taking into account that the children are still in the environmental school in which they are also linking each of their families so that through recycling they can improve the conditions of their neighborhood generating well-being.

SANTIAGO DE OKOLA: Attendance – BOLIVIA

What is the project about?

Asiturso is a tourism association of the inhabitants of Santiago de Okola in Bolivia. It is an indigenous community located on Lake Titicaca that is interested in improving the quality of life of its members and community through community tourism. The project is 100% designed and operated by the community and they hope to be an example of partnership for the neighbouring populations.

How is VSocial involved in the project?

The VSocial Foundation has been working in the Santiago de Okola Community for several years contributing to two schools: the Kerihuati school and the Santiago de Okola school where it has contributed with some infrastructure in kitchen, bathrooms and the construction of a museum inside the school. Besides this with some educational and sports materials. Always with the address to contribute in the tourist destination. Now we directly support the strengthening of the organization ASITURSO in its structure and in its role as a provider of tourism services specialized in Community Tourism.

What impact does the commitment have?

We impact about 20 families directly, each one of the associates represents a family nucleus, so any action we generate to strengthen the association will have a high impact. There we also worked on the issue of marketing so that the tourism products that are developed can be sold from the perspective of fair trade and can really generate positive changes in the quality of life of each of the inhabitants of the small town on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

TABOQUINHAS – BRASIL

What is the project about?

The project consists of strengthening the community-based tourism association created by several inhabitants of Taboquinhas in Brazil who are working to strengthen their local economy through tourism. There they generate tourist products with the knowledge of each of the inhabitants. Its work is based on generating value chains so that the economic vocation of the territory benefits and generates added value.

How is VSocial involved in the project?

VSocial is in charge of providing technical, administrative and economic support to the tourism association so that they can generate processes that last over time and that can contribute to local development. In addition, tourism products are created based on the local culture that is deeply rooted in the cocoa harvest. There, VSocial aims to strengthen these local economies by means of community tourism as a chain of diverse knowledge in the territory.

What impact does the commitment have?

VSocial has been present since the very creation of the association, we have followed every step they take and we are sure that it is an organization that will be consolidated as an organization that works collectively to improve the quality of life of its members. There are more than 25 associates and it is still a very young organization. It is expected to grow by attracting more people who are interested in generating spaces for dialogue and collective construction of their territory.
