
SALANGO
What is the project about?
Salango is an ancestral community located in the province of Manabí, Puerto López canton, within the Machalilla National Park. It is a community rich in natural and cultural resources, with forms of coexistence and social organization of the Manta Wuankavilca, being people who have demonstrated their aptitude for sun and beach tourism and sighting of humpback whales in June and November, thus providing exotic island landscapes and Coastal maritime for lovers of flora, fauna, archeology, folklore and eco-sports. It also has 70% women and 30% immersed men working in the touristic activity, which began from the year 2000.
In the same way, the nationality of the foreign visitors that arrive the most to this community are: France, the United States, Canada, Peru and Argentina, while at a national level they are from: Quito, Cuenca, Guayaquil and Manta.
Among the needs to improve in the community are: sewage, drinking water, training guides and marketing, in addition to the problem of lack of signage and its respective maintenance. However, despite these limitations, this community presents food service through a restaurant with capacity for 80 people and an average cost of $10, as well as accommodation services, with capacity of 11 rooms with average cost of $ 15, guidance, nature tourism, archeological, community, ancestral and gastronomic.
