What is the project about?
It is made up of +86 families, which are currently engaged in community tourism. They receive around 16,000 national and foreign visitors a year, who come to see the remains of the butter culture, to admire the dry and tropical forests or to benefit from the medicinal properties attributed to the waters of its sulphur lagoon.
In the ancestral white water community you will find a resting place, full of ancient knowledge, culture and history.
It is located in the Machalilla national park, Machalilla parish, Puerto López canton, province of Manabí. It is accessed by the coast road, 12 km north of Puerto López. It has a paved road to the town of the commune where the museum is located.
The Machalilla park has an area of 55,095 ha on land where the ecosystem of the tropical dry forest, tropical rainforest and marine ecosystem, including the islands of salango and silver.
The most populated area of the park corresponds to the commune of white water, which has as tourist attractions the archaeological site of the same name, the site museum, and the lagoon that has medicinal properties due to its sulfurous waters.
